Clays

These clay-like formulations allow hand-forming or press-forming shapes that can be readily dried/fired/sintered to desired ceramics

RefClay Y
RefClay Y is a ready-to-use, water-based, Yttria (Y₂O₃) refractory claylike material that can be press molded to form shapes and then fired to high density at 1400 C.

RefClay Z

RefClay Z is a ready-to-use, water-based, Zirconia (ZrO₂) refractory claylike material that can be press molded to form shapes and then fired to high density at 1400-1600 C.

RefClay ZRP

RefClay ZRP is a ready-to-use, water-based, refractory claylike material that can be press molded to form shapes and then sintered to high density at 1400 C.  The sintered refractory has very low thermal expansion similar to fused silica.

BN EsoCera Clay

BN EsoCera Clay is an esoteric ceramic claylike material that is loaded with Boron Nitride in order to impart the great properties of BN into a formable clay.
Thus, if you are familiar with clay-based ceramics, this BN EsoCera Clay works identically to normal ceramic clay – allows the user to form parts by hand or press-form shapes as desired, followed by drying and then firing to a strong, well-bonded body by heating to 1000 C in air for ½ hour “soak”.

CASTING SLIP

This Boron Nitride slip formulation allows casting into plaster molds to make most any shape that can be dried/fired/sintered to a strong, well-bonded BN body.

BN EsoCera Slip

BN EsoCera Slip is an esoteric ceramic casting slip loaded with BN in order to impart the great properties of BN into a part cast-and-sintered from this slip.
Thus, if you are familiar with slip casting ceramics, this slip works identically to normal ceramic slip – casts into plaster molds with good release and shape retention, forming a strong leather-hard body on initial drying and then firing to a strong, well-bonded body.

PLASTERS

These plaster-forming dry powder mixtures allow making a Plaster-of-Paris like material based on Yttrium Oxide or Yttrium-Zirconium Oxide by merely adding water. The dried plaster is a porous ceramic body that can be further shaped/sanded after drying if desired.

PlasterMix YY

PlasterMix YY is an all-Yttria based plaster-forming mixture, which on merely adding water and stirring, becomes like Plaster-of-Paris that can cast into silicone forms to make “investment” molds or porous shapes or even be applied like stucco to firebrick.

PlasterMix ZY

PlasterMix ZY is a Yttria-based plaster-forming mixture, which on merely adding water and stirring, becomes like Plaster-of-Paris that can be cast into silicone forms to make “investment” molds or porous shapes or even be applied like stucco to firebrick.

SPACKLING

These ready-to-use refractory putty materials based on Yttrium Oxide or Zirconium Oxide can be applied like typical spackling compounds, and can be sanded or scraped after applying and drying or firing.

SpackleKote Y

SpackleKote Y is a ready-to-use, water-based, Yttria-loaded putty that can be applied to ceramic substrates with a putty knife, trowel, or spatula to fill or repair. After applying and drying or firing onto ceramic parts, the region can be sanded or scraped.

SpackleKote Z

SpackleKote Z is a ready-to-use, water-based, Zirconia-loaded putty that can be applied to ceramic substrates with a putty knife, trowel, or spatula to fill or repair. After applying and drying or firing onto ceramic parts, the region can be sanded or scraped.

MACHINABLE HIGH-ENTROPY-LIKE CERAMIC

This product is available as ‘pucks’ that can be cut, turned on a lathe, machined, milled, drilled, threaded, tapped, polished/surfaced to form most any desired high-temperature refractory part which retains good strength up to 1200 C in all atmospheres.

Z-MARC

Z-MARC is ZYP Coatings’ Machinable Advanced Refractory Ceramic that can be machined with conventional carbide-tipped machine tools to produce complex shapes as desired for a wide range of industrial areas-of-use. Z-MARC is unlike any other machinable ceramic – with composition that is very stable/inert at high temperature to 1200 C, while maintaining good hot strength, without creep or deformation. Additionally, Z-MARC is near-fully-dense with no outgassing. With outstanding electrical insulation and breakdown voltage, Z-MARC is excellent for electrical applications.
